Teeth Straightening
Teeth straightening is necessary for medical and cosmetic reasons for some people. There are variety of dental products and procedures which can help to achieve that "perfect smile". There is a common believe that metal braces are the only option to straighten teeth. However, technology did advance to the level that metallic material does become obsolete. Orthodontists provide services to the following teeth straightening methods:
- Teeth straightening with traditional metal braces
- Teeth straightening with lingual braces
- Invisalign teeth straightening
- Teeth straightening with damon braces
- Porcelain Veneers
Teeth Straightening with Metal Braces
This is a traditional and well developed method to straighten teeth.
Metal wires are attached to the front of the teeth using brackets.
The system is proven to work effectively.
However, the cosmetics of the design is not attractive thus small children with serious orthodontic problems are using it.
Every now and then the braces are adjusted by the dentist until teeth fall in place.
Straight Teeth with Lingual Braces
Lingual braces are similar to metal braces. However, in the case of lingual braces the wire runs at the back of teeth. Cosmetically it is a great teeth straightening choice. Nevertheless, the comfort of wearing these braces is greatly reduced. This is a great option to fix serious orthodontic problems where invisalign cannot be used.
Teeth Straightening - Invisalign
A revolutionary system to straighten teeth without wires. In fact invisalign is transparent and it is difficult to see that patient is wearing it. Dentists adjust invisalign every 2 weeks until teeth reach their desired position. Invisalign can easily be removed without the help of dentist. Not all people can wear invisalign. Patients over 14 years of age with no serious orthodontic problems are great candidates.
Teeth Straightening with Damon Braces
Great but expensive system to achieve straight teeth. Damon braces do not have wires or strings. These dental braces achieve comfort and faster results then conventional teeth straightening options. Damon braces are more discrete but these are not invisible.
Straight Teeth and Porcelain Veneers
Porcelain veneers do not physically achieve straight teeth.
It is a cosmetic option which give impression of straight teeth and perfect smile.
Porcelain veneers are the quick orthodontic fix for those who cannot wait for results from conventional methods.
These veneers closely match the colour and shape of perfect straight teeth.
Porcelain veneers do have disadvantages though. A lot of structure of the healthy tooth has to be removed in order to use this product.
Porcelain veneers are purely cosmetic. Therefore, there is unlikely any insurance rebate to have them done.
